Play 17-0
The NFL perfect-season football game
Build a 17-0 team in Gridiron’s NFL draft game. Spin a franchise and decade, make six picks, and see whether your roster can finish undefeated.
How to Play 17-0
Build the strongest six-pick lineup available from your draws and see how it would perform over a 17-game NFL season.
Get a team and decade
Each of the six rounds spins an NFL franchise and decade. You have one franchise reroll and one decade reroll for the entire draft, and each must be used before selecting that round’s player.
Choose a player or defense
Search at least three letters from a player’s first or last name. The player must have appeared for that exact franchise during the selected decade. Choosing DEF uses that franchise-decade’s highest-rated qualifying team defense.
Set your lineup
Drag the selection to a highlighted position or select the card and then its destination. Existing picks can be rearranged before advancing; when a legal move requires a swap, the lineup automatically shifts the affected cards.
Advance each round
Review the formation before advancing. Every round contributes exactly one selection, and the next franchise-decade spin begins only after the current pick is placed.
See your projected record
After six rounds, 17-0 grades the five offensive seasons and selected team defense, compares your roster with the best legal lineup from the same six draws, and projects a record over 17 games.
Position rules
Your six slots are quarterback (QB), running back (RB), wide receiver (WR), tight end (TE), FLEX, and team defense (DEF). QB and DEF fill only their matching slots. RB, WR, and TE may also fill FLEX. Every player and defense can be used only once.
How Roster Scoring Works
Player grade
Each offensive grade is 55% production, 30% efficiency, and 15% dominance. Qualifying season honors and championships can add up to eight points, with the final grade capped at 100.
Production
Full-season passing, rushing, or receiving output for the player’s position.
Efficiency
Position-specific rate performance: passer rating and interceptions for quarterbacks, rushing and touch efficiency for running backs, and yards per target and catch rate for receivers and tight ends.
Dominance
A season-value measure compared with players at the same position in the same season.
Team defense
Defense is 45% pass defense, 35% run defense, and 20% dominance. Selecting DEF automatically uses the highest-rated qualifying season for that franchise and decade.
Lineup quality
The five offensive-player grades make up 80% of the roster rating. Team defense makes up the remaining 20%.
Projected wins
Your roster rating determines your projected record over a 17-game season.
How to Build a 17-0 Team
Check your empty positions before choosing a name. Only WR, TE, and RB can go into the FLEX slot.
For example, a Patriots draw from the 2000s can offer Tom Brady and Randy Moss. You get one pick from that draw. If you already have a quarterback, Moss can fill WR or FLEX while Brady has no open position. If QB is still empty, compare both players with the positions you need to fill.
Defense counts for 20% of the roster rating, compared with 16% for each offensive slot. A strong defense is worth considering even when a familiar offensive player is available. An empty slot contributes zero.
Use your rerolls while you still have a choice. A team reroll keeps the decade and changes the franchise; an era reroll keeps the franchise and changes the decade. You have one of each for the entire draft.
17-0 Frequently Asked Questions
What does 17 and 0 mean?
17 and 0 means 17 wins and no losses. In this game, it’s the projected record you’re trying to reach over a 17-game NFL regular season.
How do you play 17-0?
You receive six NFL franchise-and-era draws. Choose one eligible player or defense from each draw and fill QB, RB, WR, TE, FLEX, and DEF.
How is the projected record calculated?
Five offensive ratings make up 80% of the roster grade and defense makes up 20%. A roster grade of at least 99 projects to 17-0.
Can I continue playing in the app?
Yes. The Gridiron Trivia app adds more tickets, saved progress, rewards, daily leaderboards, and unlimited play with Pro.
What do the rerolls change?
Each attempt includes one team reroll and one era reroll. A reroll must be used before selecting the player for that round.
Can every draft finish 17-0?
Your draws limit the roster you can build. Even the best legal lineup from a set of six draws can fall short of 17-0. The result screen shows that lineup alongside yours, so you can see which picks you missed.
How can I share my 17-0 team?
After finishing a draft, select Share to send your roster and projected record as text or an image. The text includes a link to the game so friends can try their own draft.
